For those of you that have been following the journey of "Carolann R" and her husband Tony, I wanted to give an update.
The three of us have been touring a number of properties -- some that she had identified before she arrived and a couple that she had not. I've run them ragged looking at properties and discussing the various pros and cons of each.
Of course, we also took some time to tour around and have me show them where to find some nice places to relax and enjoy the island (Kehena, hot ponds, Kapoho, Kalapana, the steam caves, etc).
When I left them today, we had identified 4 properties in their preferred price range that they really liked. Each property has its pluses and they are each a unique property. Each one of the properties has some aspects that they like, but they are far from cookie-cutter copies of each other.
I don't envy the tough choice they have to make. I could easily live in any of the four properties that they have found that meet their needs. They are all nice and very livable, each with its specific charms.
I'm sure we'll be talking tomorrow.

Oh Thanks John for the update! Realtor and tour guide extraordinaire! We have been rooting for "Sparky" (our nick name for Carrie) and Tony! We were lucky enough to have dinner with them in Phoenix earlier in the month and are so hoping they will find their dream house. So say hey from Mella and Gene and we send our positive thoughts and fondness too. Aloha, Mella L

Sounds great John! I wish them best in this big decision. I simply can not wait until it is our turn to have to make that decision. Time seems to be standing still.

John, It sounds very much like the workout I gave you a year and a half ago when I had identified some properties in advance and saw everything with you. You also took the time to show me and tell me about the amazing things about the Big Island.
They are in good hands.

Thank you all for the compliments, but working with Carrie and Tony has not been "work" but a pleasure. They were really well-organized and had a clear sense of what they wanted. They took a lot of initiative to do tons of research before they got here and once they arrived, they did even more.
Plus, they are just fun, nice people. Its been a good time meeting, talking with them (and doing a little work too).
Oh, and I showed them this thread first thing this morning and they say "HI!" back to you too, Mella.

Aloha Everyone!!! This show is comin' live from da Internet Cafe in Pahoa!!
John Dirgo is amazing and a real albizia hunter! "Kill 'em while they're young!" is his moto. He has been carting us all around and is tireless I might add (except this morning probably sleeping in - now we have put an offer in don't wanna wake him up to bug him about it).
Keep your collective fingers crossed - we found two we really love. One in Nanawale and is a double lot and very serene grounds and house amazingly well taken care of.
The other in HSRE...needless to say it's nice for paved roads, mail delivery, water, cable, community pool three streets down and very nearly new for the asking price! This one's better for mom since on a slab...(I know about the bugs, having had a show-down with a cane spider [okay so TONY had the show-down] in the kitchen...it was a baby and HUGE! Also saw one dead centipede but we'll spray - no worries, yeah?
Okay so -- Yesterday we drove up coast and through Waimea to Kona side - YUK!!! Choke cars; Choke pollution (to quote IZ). Very Smelly over there too, I'm sorry to say...but I think it's the VOG. To US - it doesn't compare to the beauty and charm of the east side of the island - particularly PUNA.
I LOVED "Ning's" Thai Food in Pahoa - YUMMMM.
I LIKED "Luquin's" for mexican.
NOW - Here's the best part of all...Tony had an interview at Big Island Toyota - and they have a place for him when he is ready to be here...how about that! He will work 4 tens!!! Yay!!! That's double the days off from his current job in Arizona. They are very busy, too. All good on that front so far!
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I couldn't wait to get to the punaweb to tell you what's up...hey I have Nancy Fryhover's number and will call her in little while...also Pam Jones and You Know We Gotta See the Lamont spread so Pammie - we'll call you in a couple hours!!
Aloha Future Neighbors!
Much Love & Light,
Tony & Carrie Rojo

Hi Carolann,
It is funny, I have had the same experience, last week I was visiting and drove from Kehena up to Waimea and then to lower Kohala. The traffic was awful (road work), but I have to admit that the beach was nice at Hapuna State Park. (But, of course, I had to keep my suit on, unlike Kehena). But what was really awsome was the drive back over the saddle road. It is an amazing trip between Muana Loa and Muana Kea. So, don't write off the rest of the island and hunker down in Puna. It is all pretty amazing.
Aloha,
Rob L

Nothing is done until its done, but today's update from the other Realtor has us all cautiously optimistic. Cross your fingers and send good energy to Carrie and Tony.
