Lax to Kona -about 900!
And for someone who wants one stop because of the animal they transport -this is the only Airline (United) available.

Maybe's its LAX - because Oakland - Hilo was only $420 for January/Feb on Hawaiian.

It's strange -twice as much.but both-travel agent and online -the same price.
From SD I would not have any other option as rent a car to LA and from Kona, because flying as a "baggage" is a horrible experience for an animal to start with.Changing flights -no way!-I want my "son" alive.

We were in the same pickle, we wanted to fly direct because of the pets. United was our only choice. We got our tickets through our travel agent 4 months ago and I think they were about $680, SFO to Kona. Usually we fly Hawaiian and take the lay over in Honolulu to save $$. This will not be such an issue for a while, as we are moving on MONDAY!!!! Yipee! [Big Grin]

You can fly delta out of salt lake city Utah and get a direct flight non stop. Slc is the closest with an animal a.g. Delta has an international hub in salt lake.
That's how we went with 6 dogs and a blue and gold macaw

also stillhope your boxer will either cargo or baggage
In order to go in the cabin they must be able to fit under your seat or in overhead.
Also check that you can book your dog more than 7 days prior to your flight. It makes booking your flight a little trickier. I would recomend using a travel agent.
Other wise it can be a nightmare.
I only say this because we have only been here for 45 days.
So we just went through it.
Just be patient and smile as your jumping through their hoops.

Hey Bullwinkle
It's been great having you as a neighbor since your never around. LOL
We are looking for another house. This one just doesn't suit our needs.
We will come over and have a beer and shoot the **** when you get back.
P.s. We have had alot of rain and your driveway looks like a stream bed. Lol

$501+ RT: Philadelphia to Honolulu - Travelocity yesterday.

Our Boxers flew as baggage Atlanta to Honolulu via Chicago on American, then to Hilo - same long August day in 2005. I was in worse shape than they were. They did great.

$401.00 NONSTOP.... Honolulu - New York on Continental roundtrip. You can't get much cheaper than that for the distance traveled. But it's 11 hours on a plane.

never mind, just give your dog a bowl of "Stolichnaya", followed by two oxycotin....your son will be fine. He might piss himself, but he'll sleep right through it![^]
