Puna Web Friend Yahoo Group
#1
Hello Everyone,

I looked at Puna Web Friends Yahoo Group today and went through
all of the messages there.

I realized that there has been a lot of spam put out on there
and I have banned the culperits. I also put notice on the main
page stating that if you spam the members, you will be banned.

If anyone continues to get spams from this site, please let me know
as soon as possible. email me at ed_smay@yahoo.com

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Some of the members still have not added their photos to the
Puna Web Photos album.

Aloha

Ed

Hi Ed:

I help moderate the Yahoo Group for the Hilo Dive Club and we found that open membership was a bad idea because spammers flocked to it and choked the message board with all kinds of their unwanted posts. You may consider limiting membership to those you invite and those who apply. The screening process is much easier that way and you don't have to police it constantly to weed out spammers.

FWIW,
Andrew

I finally found out where to modify access to PunaWebFriends Yahoo Group site and will ensure that anyone that requests access is
a true Punatic at heart!

All previous spammers have been banned.

Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Ed:

disregard - I see you've done that already.

Also it is possible if you want to to go through and delete spam messages. As moderator you can check the little box to the right of any message then at the top click delete. You can delete more than one message at a time by checking more than one box. This will be a bit of trouble but will probably only need to be done once.

Much appreciated, Ed. I'll rejoin this group now that it's cleaned up a bit! ;-)

Members of Yahoo groups have the option of receiving no emails. I had used that option, so wasn't bothered by the spam.
