Let it Rain...Let it Rain......
#1
I just checked my backyard rainwater gauge in HPP. We've had 7 inches of rain in the past 18 hours! Still raining steady and hard. Might end up with over 10 inches by the 24 hour mark.

I was going to drive to the plant sale this morning in Hilo. Has anyone that's been to Hilo already this morning had any highway rain problems?

that's quite a bit of rain. What part of HPP do you live? I guess it really doesn't matter. I'm near the ocean in HPP, and it's raining "cats & dogs". I hope we don't as much rain as we did almost two years ago. Or was it less than two years ago that we got all that rain & crazy winds together?

It really started hammering in Leilani about 8 last night. Sat. TV went out then and hasn't come back yet, skylights are leaking like a sieve & my couch is wet. Emptied my overflowing rain guage at 8:15, it's got about 1 1/2 inches since. Nice thing is it rained so hard last night the coqui shut up.

It's just as wet in Hilo ...
not a day to be outside, and I don't want to be on the road either.

NOAA had today pegged yesterday with a forecast of 90% Heavy Rain.
Tomorrow is still rain but not heavy rain, so I don't expect the deluge to continue. Looks like Tuesday is more or less normal, scattered showers.

I lived in the desert for 6 1/2 years, I missed the rain, and was delighted at the prospect of living in the climate we have here. But there's an old asian curse that says "may you get what you wanted", and it's true. No regrets, however, because I'd rather be cursed with too much rain rather than not enough to support life.

it's storming over here in fern forest--just heard some thunder.

several of us went to the plant sale last night--it rained, but not this heavy. it was hard enough that traveling back up the hill proved a somewhat difficult. could be because we're still new to the island and haven't driven much at night.

I've lived here full time for four years now, and it is still challenging for me to drive some of the country roads at night in the rain. And it can get way worse than this.

Here in Hawaiian Shores, we have had 6.93" in the last 24 hours, and 4.25" since midnight.
