Huli Huli chicken plate lunch ,
is now a part of Makuu market place every day during the weekdays Monday thru Friday. Steve has moved his mobile kitchen and Huli Huli grill to Makuu market place and will be preparing his To Die For menu with some comfort foods like, Meatloaf plate lunch, Teri-chicken sandwich, Marinaded sirloin beef tips, Jumbo shrimp plate, and the best Huli Huli chicken plate lunch on any island.
I will be helping Steve out for some time running the Huli Huli Chicken grill and looking toward seeing all of my Punaweb friends there. I’m trying to talk Steve into selling whole Huli Huli chickens every Friday so I need a response from all you punatic’s out there to make him go for it.
We will be at the Pahoa Jam [:p] [:p] [:p]

Maybe you can suggest bringing back down the prices, just my opinion...
I dont know if Makuu Association raised prices, inflation or just plain greed but:
2 yrs ago, $8 for plate lunch...
A year ago, $10...
Last week $12 for a plate lunch...
I normally could care less about price but when they are serving ONE scoop of rice, 1 scoop mac salad and your choice of meat, a little hard to swallow considering...

Hey Damon, in all fairness, I did order the 3 meat plate lunch...
It came w/ 1 scoop rice, 1 scoop mac-salad, 3 choices of meat...
BUT w/ that being said, L&L Keeau, Sombats, Sum Leung, Samoan food at Makuu, Hilo Lunch Shop, etc all serve 3 choice plate lunches anywhere between $7-10...
I guess Ive been spoiled and grown accustomed to "local-style" prices...
And Im comparing this joint to similar establishments w/ similar price points...
But trust I am not complaining, I will continue to support them and I am excited they are now a Mon-Fri. operation. I live in Ainaloa and they are 5 min. away...[

Hey no kidding Damon, about 2 years ago I was pulling onto HWY 130 from Ainaloa and was T-Boned by a SUV!!
My car was crushed!! Both air bags deployed, front tire was pushed into my engine block, everything was demolished...
Doctors said it was a miracle I survived...
I attribute it to my size (6" 3" 265) and the many plate lunches I ate...[

Okay, I apparently don't know where the Maku'u Marketplace is. Took a friend and went by where I thought it was yesterday and gates all closed and locked, nothing anywhere. I thought you meant where the big Maku'u Farmer's Market is on Sundays. Ended up at Luquin's so all wasn't lost. [
