Cathie and I went last year and it was great. We'll be going again this year. I just can't get over how many different kinds of orchids there are!

While we were on Island in June we met a couple of John D's friends who had an amazing lava garden in the back of their house...an old flow. They were "peeling away" the layer of growth off the flow and doing plantings in many areas...one of the things in their yard though that I loved was how they just "tucked" an orchid in the "Y" of branches of anything (tree, etc.) and it grew beautifully! That is something I wanna do. You hear on the mainland how hard it is for people to grow orchids and here they were just air plants!!
