I have been really enamored of the amazing variety of croton I see planted all over, especially in the older neighborhoods in Hilo, but I am not seeing many choices available in the nurseries. Does anyone have some of the older types I could try cuttings from? I am looking for a an assortment of variegated specimens with the really eye popping color combinations, both the narrow and broad leafed varieties.
Thanks so much for any help people could give me, either by sharing cuttings or pointing me to a good source for plants.

We have tons of them Carol. They are along our North fence line and most are 10' tall. You are free to come take cuttings any time. I just keep trimming them back.

Devany,
Mahalo! I sent you an email through Punaweb, let me know if you didn't get it and I will try through one of your sites. I was just thinking of you and Wes and all that ocean front glass with Felicia bearing down on us. We were in an ocean front condo with an all glass front when Flossie turned into a non event but it was still stressful. I hope you weather the storm OK.

Hey Carol,
We made it just fine, thanks for the concern. It is nice when these threats turn into non-events eh?
I just posted film and pictures including yesterdays beautiful rainbows:

I did get your e-mail and wrote you back from my PineapplePrincesss e-mail address. But I did not hear back from you, so now I am checking to see if you got it.

Carol - We have quite a bit and I need to trim up one of them - it's gotten about 8 ft tall if you still need some.

My experience with croton cuttings is that they do root, but crotons grow very slowly compared to many plants here that get size very quickly. I would be interested to hear if you have success with large cuttings or whether they have to be trimmed a lot to take.
I have had large croton bushes that grew like crazy and needed frequent trimming, but what I've noticed is that it takes some time to get from cutting/small specimen to a large vigorous croton.
