The Honolulu Advertiser is reporting the Mauna Kea will be the site of the world's largest telescope:

Hopefully, this will mean a serious investment in education and job opportunities for residents of Hawaii Island. Good news, IMHO, but we can expect some protests and efforts to obstruct.
