Perhaps I've gotten jaded, but have pretty much drifted away from thinking of eating out here and budget minded in same thought, but when we do some of the oriental plate lunch places fit the bill. For pure price, McD in Walmart due to the $1 menu.

Budget minded....give us a price range....cause yes cooking at home or rental is the way to go. Otherwise I hang out at places like Subway in Pahoa, Nings Thai quisine, Ken's House of Pancakes, etc.

My favorite fast food joint in Hilo is Itsu's.

Kalua pork sandwich is my favorite. My girls like the beef curry for after school.

Part fishing/sporting goods, part local style eatery. located on that side road off Hwy. 11.
Turn at the Carpet Isle corner. Block and a half down on the left. Nothing fancy. Nice folks.

Don't do McDs much.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Even cheaper than the McDonalds dollar meal is to get a 32 oz container of oil and a 12 oz container of salt. Mix with various growth hormones, antibiotics and a pinch of fecal matter. Feeds 12.

Seriously folks; For good budget meals, check out the deli bars at any of our local health food stores. The budget comes into play with moderation. Most restaurants serve more food than a healthy person needs.

Maona's in Hilo is my favorite. Its not super cheap, but its a good value. The burgers are so big that I have to cut them in half.

I am not much into McD's either. I don't really consider them a restaurant.

For instance, I like Lemongrass for an inexpensive meal. Pretty good food and decent atmosphere for the prices. I need to expand my horizons, but I am not really looking for fast food chains.

Been to Itsu's I think. That's carry-out, Ya?

John, Where is Maona's
