A clever security camera perhaps?

Im sure this is probably not a perfect device but if a person could cover or disconnect the flash it'd be good for catching day movement on a property. Of course proper concealment would help and it could be pointed right down towards a license plate. Another covering some portion that would catch a person.

Neat gadget regardless.
Please be kind.

I use two similar models from cabella's that work quite well. There are also infrared models available that use an invisible flash. Search for game camera's on their web site. prices range from $50 up. With a large capacity SD card they store a large number of photo's, Most have a laser aiming beam for precise alignment. I get license numbers and photo's of anything entering the property. Enclosures are weather proof and easily concealed.

Geez, at 50 bucks that would be cheep insurance! How long do they last on a charge Dick? Also, what is the price for the IR?

Just build a wall, add a fence on top of the wall, keep a gate locked at all times, put bars on the doors and windows, keep guns in the house, get a large safe, get a security system, get large dogs, put up signs.... What is the point of all the paranoia?

Living your lives in cages to protect your stuff is insane. How much of your time is spent fiddling with and worrying about security? Sure, there is crime here - it is everywhere, but living in fear of it isn't going to help reduce it or help you live longer. I cannot imagine the stress some of you put upon yourselves worrying about things like this?

Since the police and prosecutors in Hawaii will not usually use pictures from these cameras to prosecute property crimes, here is a cheaper alternative.

Royal, Mine use D cells, I've been using them for about 6 months on the first set of batteries. Pretty cheap insurance, and while they may not use pictures in prosecution, they can damn sure use license numbers to find the slugs. Also its pretty hard to fence items engraved with names and identity codes, which describes EVERYTHING in the house, tight down to screw drivers and individual sockets, not to mention all electronics.
And mdd since you don't care if you get ripped of, why not post your address so we can send the slugs your way.

I didn't say that I didn't care, just the extremes that some people go through. Taking precautions is smart, but why the extremes?

It seems to me something as simple as an inexpensive camera is precaution not an extreme. Walls? yes, those are extreme.
