Rescue ?
#1
Anyone have any info about helicopter rescue / recovery, off the cliff, at the bottom of Paradise Drive. We watched a man and a gurney, at the end of a 100 foot rope, being lifted by a helicopter.
The whole operation took about 30 min.

This story reminds me of how easy it is to be swept into the ocean by an unexpected big wave. This almost happened to me once and right then I learned the lesson very well never to turn your back on the ocean - even pretty high up on a cliff. Glad all ended well.

"Opihi man in the sun....
Opihi man grab your bag and run.....
Opihi man another swell is comin' your way....."

Did you know the Na Hano Hano award winning song by the Kau Crater Boys was written by Capt. Craig (Kamahele), the local DJ, on 92.7 FM ?

"Sounds like thunder, gotta head for the high ground
White water coming, no foolin` around...

...Gotta fill up your bag, with the yellow and black
Keep your eye on the wave, don`t ever turn your back...

...Like the crab on the rock, you gotta run real fast
Keep your eye on the wave, don`t ever turn your back..."

dangerous indeed as told by the song!
