Foodland Keaau Opens Today

I am excited and am going in today to see how it looks. They open at 10:00 today.

It will be interesting to do some comparison shopping with KTA and Safeway which are only 6 miles away.

Well I liked it. We bought quite a bit of sale stuff, and there was quite a few people shopping. I did forget to check the milk prices, so if someone else goes let us know if you see what those prices are like.

If it stays this bright and clean we will be shopping there. Foodland seems to have decent sale prices, plus I hate going into Hilo unless I have a huge list, with good sale savings.

Thank you. Safeway is 3.99 per gallon normally, but this is still not bad and better than driving into Hilo for it.

I popped into the new Foodland today and have to admit I'm impressed. There are a few of the people that worked in the old store there so a chance to say hello again, it's much cleaner than it used to be and a lot more space. The produce isle is definitely a huge improvement and there was more meat than you could shake a stick at.

All the checkouts were open as well which is something that used to annoy me at the old place; they'd have one or two open and only open another when the lines were huge.

I know it's only day one, but good job so far!

I also went and was very impressed. Clean, well stocked, good prices, easy to move around and all together a great place to shop. I do hope it stays this good because I also hate to drive to Hilo for groceries.

thieves were already in action at yesterday's grand opening! they probably thought that with all the celebrating and festivities, they would go undetected. shrinkage by external as well as interal will make the prices go up!

Interesting about the thieves. I went to Island Naturals last night and found the police there. Apparently some thieves had ripped them off, then been caught at Wally World. The police had brought the items back to IN. So there was widespread store ripoff action yesterday!

I'm envious of you guys having Foodland now. I really don't like the drive to Kea'au, same as you don't like the drive to Hilo. Just don't like the way people drive on that part of the highway. But I'm tempted ...
