#1
Hi: I introduced myself and Josie last week here and am now on page two if you are interested.

I am wondering if anyone here in this group has a successful home based business that may have portenial for others to take part. You can email me at pinetopbob at gmail, com if you want to.

No I am not promoting one. I am looking for one that works please.

Thanks,

BobH

Welcome Bob. You've just asked the million dollar question. As helpful as people are around here, I think if someone had the answer to your question, they'd keep it to themselves and close friends, and try to not invite open competition online.

What you are more likely to get with this kind of question is recommendations based on what people wish was available here.

In general, I think some of the best start-up businesses are those that everyone thought were a bad idea, that way they had no competition. But its always a gamble.

Good luck.

Hi Ric,

You are probably right but I am hoping to find something that is working for someone and doesn't have to be done locally; would work anywhere idea.

Thanks!

There are a couple (as in maybe 2-3) legitimate customer service type businesses. I have a friend who did it for about a year. You have to have high speed internet, a real land-line phone and a fast computer. You would basically be replacing some poor soul in India as a call center rep. Outsourcing at its' finest.

Just be careful, there are lots of scams about home based businesses out there. Don't send money to anyone!

Most legitimate home based businesses that I have seen usually involve sales and marketing. And usually are strictly commission based. Either that or you need to be a computer/Internet guru. But then you could be making much more by working for a corporation or owning your own business utilizing your skills and experience.

For example I offer a 50% commission for my web hosting for a one year contract. So if you are good at marketing you can develop a portal web site or you can blast out local free advertising. And get a minimum of $27.50 for each person you sign up for a year. I had one guy who brought me a lot of business before he just disappeared.

If you are good at sales and marketing I think affiliate sales like what I described above are an excellent way of making money at home. The key to sales/marketing and selling product through your own Internet storefront is selling/marketing to a niche. Find your niche here in Hawaii and market it locally.
