Buying starter plants
#1
Back on the mainland I gave up buying starter plants

(vegetables, herbs) from nurseries and tried to use seeds.

Main reason - all the plants, even perfectly looking ones are already

heavily bugged and I don't like spraying chemicals on them.

I use my own soap based spay, but it usually not effective on the

infestation in progress.

Is any of you succeeded in not sprays the starter plants bought here?

I haven't had the pleasure of bringing anything home to my Hawaiian house yet, but every visit to BI I have looked at lots of plants for sale. And so many had whiteflies. Not to mention what I have read about fire ants. Seeds work for me here in Washington, especially as you can get a better choice of variety. You know the recommendation to quarantine your new plants, and when you spray really get the undersides of the leaves. Hope everything is growing well for you. We are in our 10th day or so of our high temp being below freezing. Like most gardeners I can sit here and play with my catalogs and plan....
Peace and long life
