Two of those jets came over our house...Kapoho...a little later this afternoon. A sound we don't usually hear around here. It got me up and at the window to spot them....almost out of sight before I saw them. I was just telling my husband about this. He did not hear it as he had music headphones on at the time. We figured they could have taken off from Honolulu about two minutes before they came over here....that's how fast they were going!!

The overflight was for the opening ceremonies of Merry Monarch !

They were surveillance aircraft from green harvest. They've discovered they can do a quick fly by with cameras rolling and locate all of the pot patches later and no one will suspect they've been subjected to a green harvest overflight and as a result complain.

I have been hearing air traffic of all sorts of late. It is starting to make its way to the front of my consciousness that I am hearing more than less. Our home in San Diego was located right under the East to West flight pattern for inbound aircraft landing at Lindbergh Field. On the cloudy days the fuel the dumped before landing permeated the air and it smelled like someone had sprayed everywhere with the briquette fuel you start a bbq with. It also left a daily film of black ash on our vehicles. The noise was horrendous sometimes. My folks lived right on 5th and Laurel for a few years about 4 stories up and the planes landing looked like they were going to land right on top of the Complex right next door. It was eery at first to sit in their living room and look out their sliding doors to see the huge planes nearly lateral to you just over there. After the PSA crash I kept my eyes peeled for incoming and whenever I saw them I'd slow down or speed up to get out from under their path. While the crash happened off the 805 when you drive on the 5 heading into town they look like they are landing right on the Freeway! San Diego made a no fly time for the residents that lived surrounding the Airport. Aircraft could not leave or take off during certain hours.

So glad for the peace and quiet. I think that is why the increase in air traffic sounds is so noticeable.

Critter ... Used to live on the top of Zola street right behind the school ... Could hit them with a stick it seemed sometimes.

While waiting for a wedding to start in Honolulu on Sand Island Gene and I saw two black jets take off from Pearl area. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you they looked more like rockets launching and taking off than jets. The angle of entry was so steep as they blasted there way aloft, it was so incredible, very interesting. Really they look more like launched by ginat sling shot or a rocket off into the air than take off like we are accustom to from airliners!

Although Green Harvest may seem like a good throw inhere, most likely it has to do more with two other events on island, the heavy artillery fire practice for the next couple of weeks at PTA & the Navy vessel in port....
