Montre Resturant
O.K. Did not try it yet .. but check out page 11 of Big Island Weekly.
Looks like a new place to stop by in Kona.

]This restaurant is a "successor" of Krua (Thai) that went out of business. I guess the owners thought a lower rent place will make them successful. The new place is at the same location where Kona Mix Plate used to be, and it's touted as an "Asian" restaurant instead of Thai. I was shocked to see main dishes priced at $20.00 there and the Dim Sum was a disappointment for my Dim Sum expert wife. (I wouldn't know the difference.)[

Thanks John,
Debating whether to tell my own "expert" that or not now : )
She was just too happy when I told her.
Thanks again for the heads up.

Anyone know where to find a good pupu platter? Last one I had, and it was fairly good, was at the Aloha Tower. Pupu platters used to be a mainstay of Hawaiian menus. Can't find one anywhere. Or a good salad bar.
Assume the best and ask questions.

The "Don The Beachcomber" at the Royal Kona Resort has a Hawaiian Luau Plate, consisting of Lau Lau, Chicken Long Rice, Kalua Pork, Poke, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Poi, etc. It's as Hawaiian as you will find anywhere here. Salad bar?! I pass![

If your talking Big Island, Kawamoto Store does some good ones. You can customize. They are located on Kilauea Ave - across from the new courthouse...
Off Island - Oahu, I go to Hanapaa Sushi Co. Their quality is and standards are second to none.

As far as salad bars, nothing comes to mind...
