I'm looking for seed potatoes. The reds or yellow yukon would be better. Russets are alright but the reds are sooo yummy. And I figure if I'm gonna take the time to plant them, may as well plant the delish ones.
From the info i've gotten, just buying a bag of potatoes from a grocery store won't do because they use growth inhibitors and/or who knows what else.
I've gotten some rusty hog wire, some 6 mil plastic and a boat load of mulch; just need the potatoes. Rice every day is just ugh-able.

You might find organic taters at one of the health food stores... no growth inhibitors on them, right? ;-)

I was just in Abundant Life on the Bay front and they had a discrete little sign in the produce section saying they have seed potatoes for sale, and to speak to any produce staff about them. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't take the seeds from potatoes from a grocery store or supermarket because you never know what's exactly in there. Even the package description isn't always accurate. So i would also recommend to buy them at a health products or gardening store, you can't do much wrong buying it there.

Yea, that's what I thought about the grocery store's bag of potatoes. I didn't even think about the "organic" potato; can't be sprayed with a growth inhibitor, I'll definitely ask. I'm going by abundant life this weekend! Thanks so much!!
This Saturday there was an announcement on Craigslist for a 'happenin' in Kau on Sunday; gardening talk, seed exchange. Dangit if I didn't wake up with a killer head-ache Sunday morning and couldn't go (neighbors caught and dressed a poor little piggy on Saturday).
I want to plant them late August, early October and need a couple of weeks to get the eyes going so I hope I find them this weekend.
