New Canine Family Member

Bear and I have a new family member from the Humane Society Shelter in Kea'au. He is an Airedale/Terrier mix with a Scottish-looking red beard, and, as we are both of Scottish heritage, we named him Hamish. Hamish loves his new home and came leash trained, housebroken, and able to understand "sit" and "stay."

The Shelter has a lot of attractive dogs, puppies, and felines up for adoption, and if you have anyone over age 60 in the household, there is a $15 discount on the adoption fee. Also, they currently have a two-for-one offer going where a second pet may be adopted free within a week of the first adoption. The Shelter staff are helpful and welcome visitors to take the dogs out of the kennels for "get acquainted" sessions on the lawn.

Save a life and bring some more love into your home! Adopt a shelter pet if you can.

Congratulations Jerry and Bear AND Hamish (a fine name)! What could be more exciting than a new member in the family?

I had a friend with an airedale named "Moose" who was very protective of her father and slept on his feet while he rested in his easy chair, keeping everyone at bay.

He looked as though he might have a zipper down his back. Aloha![:X]

Thanks for sharing this! 2 of my 3 dogs are from the Humane Society and they make every day better. Few things as wonderful as adopting a rescue dog and knowing you'll be providing them a much better life.
