Pool Contractor ?
#1
Does anyone know of a Pool Contractor on this side of the island? I have met with one of them and its been two months and no quote yet....Perhaps they are real busy in this booming economy.Looking forward to getting a pool before 2011.

Mahalo in advance for any response.

Have you tried Mike Greenlaw with Paradise Pools? The company is in the phone book. I have friends who used him and were very happy, and I have had him do catchment work at my home. Everything was reasonable in price, and the work was first rate.

We have been happy with Max Anderson (C-29023), 808-936-1257; he does beautiful work and is a very nice fellow. Max can do the ordinary blue type of pool but also builds wonderful pools which mimic natural rock pools. You can see some examples here:

Call Tyson at 430-4356. He built the pools that you see here http://pacificgunite.com/pools.htm
Use your intuition when hiring a pool contractor. There are some real slippery types out there. Few are licensed and insured. That is not necessarily a bad thing but it leaves you with little recourse if things go bad. If you trust the person and pull your permit as an owner/builder then you might save a few bucks but check their references.

We used a company from the Kona side of the Island to build our pool and would not recommend that course of action if you can avoid it.

Aloha Louise,

If you need another contact, please let me know. A great friend of mine in Kawaihae does pools for a living. He is very competent and has alot of aloha. You can email me at holahan@holahangallery.com if you would like his contact information. I'm sure he'd appreciate the work and he is a great guy.

Best of luck...

We had a great experience with Robert Tavares of Captain Cook Pools & Spas. Can't say enough about the quality and price of their work. Our place is on post & pier so we wanted an on ground pool flush with our lanai. They put in a gunite pool which turned out beautifuly, 15 by 30 feet.
