Mokuaweoweo

I took a look at the Mauna Loa crater camera this morning, and I swear there was a long section, guessing several hundred yards long, that was steaming. All the snow melted away from that spot. And one point in particular was giving off a significant amount of steam.

I got a screen shot of it, but it's back on my work computer.

This common, or is Mauna Loa waking up?

Says ML may be weakly inflating. Thanks for sharing that observation.

Page I linked explains all the activity this decade. Lots of magma!

It just looks like blowing snow to me, but I could be wrong.

It didn't last. It's mostly clouds, rain/snow, etc up there. But I'm gonna be looking for it again.

I read a old story about a guy doing crazy dirt bike riding up to, down into, and in Mokuaweoweo.......in 1984. Said he noticed some steaming cracks at the time, didn't think much of it. Two weeks later.....and it's pouring lava.

Just goes to show ya, don't ride dirt bikes on volcanoes!
