Can anyone be so kind as to let me know what type or kind of
FTA Satellite Dish you use to get free satellite channals that are best for big island? and where/who did you buy it from? I live up the mountain, 1,200 elevation north of Hilo about 13 mile marker. i really dont' want to go with the DishTV or DirectTV as they are too expensive.
Would really appreicate hearing from folks who already have a good free to air satellite dish, what channels they get, if reception is any good, and what how big/what type they have.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Mary
p.s (currently i am just using the digital antenna and only able to get PBS 10-1 and 10-2 channels where i am at, and thats all.)any info would be greatly appreicated.

we use a large regular antenna mounted high up on a pole, we get all the digital channels and two analog channels, we live above the 15 mile marker, a digital antenna is not needed.

is what I use as a tv antenna ... works very well gets all of the locals for free ( I am at the 13 mile marker out here in the boonies)
for watching movies I use xbmc a neat computer based utility - using a "navix" script add on - a neat way to watch tv online
right now al jazeera english is offering really good egypt coverage online as well
for pure fta try these guys -

No, you don't have to have an antenna labeled as for digital, but you will probably need one labeled for HD if you want HD. But a digital antenna will work better than one designed for the analog signals.
I think this is the one I bought for digital signals back in the midwest. We were 30+ miles from the tower. I tried it in the attic and it worked so well I never bothered to mount it outside. It even pulled in some channels off the back-side of the antenna, from a city over 75 miles away. For about $35, tough to beat.

all of the hd channels have moved UHF channel 34 me thinks - that is why a recycled uhf unit seems to work ok
many retailers recycling their old uhf units by labeling as hd / digital btw --- using the channel 34 as the hd side of the antenna 'till they blow out the old vhf/uhf inventory
again all digitial channels are now brodcast on what was uhf ch.34 a very narrow bandwidth .... the amazon unit works very well for this digital conversion - designed for same from the ground up
radio shack one of those stretching the truth, be careful - they stung me........

Can someone list what all of the local channels are? Include the network name, station number and call letters if possible. Thank you.

I second TeddOnBass' request - any chance of a complete listing of local channels on free to air? Is NBC available for example? I can't find it.
As to the original question, it seems it's about free satellite channels you get with a dish. Does such a thing exist?
