Fuel surcharge increase starting April 1st
#1
Not only is gasoline going up all over...Starting April 1st...inter island airfares will be increasing as well as helicopter tours and mainland flights because of a new fuel surcharge. In order to get a lower ticket price...you need to buy it before the 1st of April.

Thanks for the heads up, been eyeing tix prices for the last few weeks for a summer trip. I guess it's as good a time as ever to book. Smile

Here's a tip for those planning to use the new non-stop Hilo-Los Angeles flights on Continental. I just purchased a trip to Texas over the Thanksgiving holidays (Hilo-LAX-Dallas-Fort Worth) on United.com for $605 including taxes and fees. That was about $200 less than on Continental's own website, and about $300 less than on Delta, American, or USAir. United is Continental's pending merger partner, but I was surprised to see their code share selling for less. Just for kicks, I priced flights to other Central and even some Eastern USA destinations, and similar savings were available. YMMV.

Macuu222, do you have link explaining more about this surcharge? I guess I made the right choice buying me and my girlfriend's tickets yesterday for our trip to Molokai if this is true.

Not a link...Word of mouth from airline employees at Hilo Airport. But I'm sure the local newspaper will pick up on it and publish it in a few days

Isn't this old news? The airlines are continuously raising fares so they can stay in business.
