Corpse flower at Panaewa Zoo
#1
Some friends were at Panaewa Zoo today (Friday, just before closing) and the corpse flower hasn't bloomed yet, but it could be soon. Some say it will only give off the smell for 8 hours. I intend to go tomorrow, but if anyone else goes there and it's doing its thing, please let us know via Punaweb. It's a rare event.

That's a fascinating flower. We had one at the botanical gardens where I grew up in New York State.

Was at the zoo upon opening at 9am. Flower is still closed, although the zoo keeper said they were taking temperatures and it should be today or tomorrow at the latest.

The staff are predicting it will bloom tonight and the flies were starting to gather so I'd advise being there at 9am tomorrow (Sunday).

Where is it? The one shown on the map (in the pueo cage) is vegetative; I didn't realize they had more than one.

It's opposite the big black pig, near the non-blooming one.

Very cool if it blooms tomorrow.
