I Would like to talk with an attorney about a dispute I am having with the Fern Forest Community Ass. I recently purchased a lot, got title insurance paid back taxes and current road upkeep fees. I just got a bill for back fees going back to 2008 that the previous owner did not pay. I suspect a simple letter from an attorney would settle this matter.
thanks

I don't know why you paid "back taxes" but you are not liable for any cost that occurred prior to your ownership, unless you acquired the property by a Quit Claim Deed. If the FFCA put a lien on the property than the title insurance company screwed up. However, and most likely, it's a screw up by your escrow company, they were supposed to prorate everything by the closing date, including the road fees. They probably were too lazy to contact the FFCA prior the closing.
