If you didnt hear the sirens today at 11:45 AM for the regular monthly test, I suggest you call the following: 935-0031, and let them know the one near you is silent. Harry Kim told us that at any particular point in time, 10% are not functioning and Civil Defense doesn't know all the time until someone calls in.

Useful reminder, thanks. I heard ours today.
What is the point of a test if nobody is listening for it? They should arrange to contact someone who lives nearby and ask them.

I know there was a group in HPP down near the bottom that their siren didnt work during the tsunami warning in March.
I hope someone listened today. If not today then Mon, Aug 1 at 11:45 Am is the next test.
Yes, I agree. In a perfect county, there would designated listeners.

True. Didn't go off. The police went door to door.

No. Not here. Still there. Scheming.
The police came and rousted my guests from the house. They were evacuated by the police, were not permitted to stay, spent the night outside of the evacuation zone and were none too pleased.
You would think all those ocean views would keep people, including full time residents, calmer. Guess not.

Where is the closest siren to the houses on the end of Paradise Ala Kai (on Kaloli Pt)?

HIdeb, Sorry that that area has no sirens. I would continue to bug Civil Defense 935-0031 about getting one. (Squeakiest wheel, etc!)
This thread is to make sure the sirens that are in place are functioning and if they are not working, to please call the CD office and let them know it is not working.

Thanks, Carey! Now does anybody know were HPP #1 and #2 are exactly? I know for sure one of them is on Makuu near 5th or 6th, but I'm not sure where the other one is located. I have heard the tests, and sometimes there are clearly two points of origin of the sound in HPP, so I just assumed the one not on Makuu was somewhere near Kaloli Point. With the population density of the Paradise Ala Kai corridor, I can't imagine there not being one near there . . . but then again this is the County of Hawaii, so who knows?
