I took some pictures of the ongoing Saddle Road
re-alignment project. Which I posted on my blog if anyone is interested in seeing.

No problem. I go over to Hilo via Saddle Road
every few months. So I'll try to take more photos of the ongoing progress GBI is doing
on the re-alignment/re-construction.

I used Saddle Road twice in the past few days and was surprised at the amount of work since October. The area east of Pu'u Huluhulu had a lot of grading along the shoulders, out about 20-30' on the north side. The area near Mauna Kea SP was the most impressive. If the whole of Saddle Road will look like that, people may be driving way too fast up there. The old road surface on the Hilo side of the work and in the Pohakuloa area is very wiggly, at least when driving a 15-passenger van. It feels like if you're not paying attention, you'll get tossed off the road. I was surprised to see as much progress since Oct. up there.
