Boogie Woogie Pizza
#1
As mentioned in the Pizza Hut thread a while back, I've completely given up on Boogie Woogie Pizza as they have taken upwards of 2 hours to create a pizza for pick up after telling us it would be ready in 45 minutes. (The last time I ordered they said it would take 45 minutes and when I showed up 1.5 hours later they still had not even STARTED to make it!) This has happened to us 3x now so I refuse to go there but my boyfriend is a glutton for punishment.

Tonight he really wanted pizza. Driving to Hilo is just too far and Pizza Hut is unimpressive. Called in an order to Boogie Woogie at 6:12pm. Was told it would be ready in 35 minutes. Showed up at 6:50pm to get the pizza and was told they had given the pizza to someone else?????? (mind you this was a special order not like it was a plain or pepperoni pizza that would be easy to confuse.) He then had to wait until they made another pizza. No apology, no discount - sorry for the mistake, etc. Ugh. Wasn't even good either.

Sounds like we could combine 2 threads. Perhaps Dayna who is looking for a career should come to Pahoa and open a GOOD pizza joint.

Ya, waiting for a pizza that should be already made is a pain. I've tried this place a couple of times. Not bad pizza but service can be slow sometime. I really haven't had issues like this (2 hours), but I mostly head in as a walk in. I feel your pain and totally understand. I've been thinking about opening a small place for carry out and some deliveries. I've worked pizza on and off for years. Worked for Pizza Hut for a year. Worked 1.5 years at the chain Hungry Howie's. Worked at my buddies place called Spanky's Pizza for 5-6 years. Everything made fresh daily at this place. Dough, sauce, cheese, veggies, etc. Now working Domino's for 2.5 years, so I've seen it all and done it all. Turned out to be a good job after getting out of the Army.

So, i know how you feel and been on the other side. Sorry, you've dealt with this place. I should be moving over spring time and I'm still thinking about opening a place. Just waiting to see how things go with the economy. Trust me, I can give a better choice for pizza, calzone, stromboli, spaghetti, and breads. With a lot better customer service. Can thank the Army for that. lol. Plus, I notice the no delivery in HPP. Can work on that.

I'm heading to the Pizza Expo in March, so I should know if I'm going to do it or not. I'll be sure to let the members here know. Trying to work out a small place to keep over head down, so i've got a better chance to make it through the first year. If it happens, i'll be sure to have your pie done in 20 mins. That's what you get when you use chain ovens over deck ovens.
Good luck,
Steve

Spunky, I feel for you!

Funny, but we ordered a pizza two days ago. As always, they told us 20 minutes. On our way to Pahoa to pick it up, I mentioned to my wife the complaints about Boogie Woogie on punaweb. We wondered if this was "our turn" to get bad service.

Once again, the pizza was ready when we got there, and the owners were all friendly smiles. As expected, the pizza was a solid "mediocre". We doctored it up when we got home and it was "good".

Not sure why, but we're yet to have a bad experience. That said, I encourage Sniper Steve to open up a pizza joint here in Pahoa. Competition is good!

we have had to wait over an hour before. Pizza is usually OK except the last time the outer crust was burned.

We had a similar experience several months ago at boogie woogie,, the said it would be ready in 45 mins...it wasn't. So when we came back in 1/2 hr. later when they said it would be ready.. he had given it to someone else ... they didnt admit this ,, but we know that is exactly what happened........we havent been back since and will never go back there again.

We went to Boogie Woogie and were told it would be about 30 minutes for our pizza. After an hour of waiting they denied telling us that it would take 30 minutes, and that take out orders took priority over walk-ins. They claimed to have told us this when we ordered. They were also rude. The pizza was marginal, and we definitely won't give them another chance.
