I'm thinking about getting a Solaro Attic Solar Fan installed to help eliminate the heat inside our house during hot full sun days. It cost $1,000.00 installed for (1) 12inch solar powered fan that can either be installed by cutting a hole through the top of our metal roof or attached to the attic side vents and wanted to find out if anyone else is using this and if it makes a big difference in room temperature. I'm kind of leary about cutting holes in my metal roof to install this but the dealers says that installing it on the top of my roof would be the most efficent.
Any comments would be appreciated....

We installed the solar power gable fan from Lowes about 4 years ago on our ohana.. (the other gable side is attached to the carport, so ventilation options are more limited...) Link:

I would recommend
First: install a radiant barrier up near the roof rafters, as that gave us the greatest "bang for the buck" in cooling
Second: increase non-powered vents as mush as you can (we opened up most of our "bird hole" round vents to higher free space rectangular ones)
Thrid: look into powered vents....but be aware few install through the roof vents correctly, with proper flashing... incorrectly installed, these may lower your roof life...
