Drawing Prizes at the Chili Cook Off.
#1
Wow, my neighbor just sold me some $1. prize drawing tickets sold as a fund raiser for HPP Neighborhood Watch. The drawing is at the Chili Cook Off this Saturday. Some really great stuff. I may have to buy more tickets. I understand they will be selling them there too. I want those
Go Airline tickets. If I can find a poster for the thing I'll try to put in on here. IF anyone knows more please post. Good luck to those who have their tickets.

Thanks for the plug, Sue. Punaweb does not allow graphic or photos, but I will repeat the prize info posted elsewhere:

Grand Prize is two round trip air tickets from Hilo to Honolulu.
Second Prize is a choice of Body Glove cruises for two, value up to $240.
Third, fourth, and fifth prizes are gift baskets of United Natural Gourmet Foods ($75), Pioneer Natural Products ($50), and Aura Cacia Body Care Products ($50) respectively. There are also other prizes to be announced.

Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5, and are available at the HPP Office and from a number of Neighborhood Watch members. For more info on ticket sales email HPPWatch@aol.com , and we will see that you get some. The winner does NOT have to be present at the drawing to win.

The Chili Cook-Off is this Saturday at the HPP Activity center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is an awareness and fund raising effort of the HPP Neighborhood Watch.

Good luck Jerry, I hope you will collect some extra funds. There was no Neighborhood Watch when I owned a house in HPP.

I would like to note that John Rabi has donated a superb bottle of French wine which will be used as one of the higher level prizes given to the best chili cooks. Thank you for your generosity, sir!

Jerry, have you thought of doing a (silent) auction instead of (or in addition to) selling tickets? You might generate more revenues that way.

Great idea, John, and I will suggest it for next year's event. It's too late at this point to change the format for this year, though. The idea behind having nice prizes for the cooks is to recognize the expense and time involved in preparing the quantity of chili necessary, as well as to encourage entries. The $125 cash "Best in Cook-Off" grand prize was donated by one of our members for this purpose. And again, John's wine went straight to a top level prize category. Both businesses and individuals have been exceptionally generous in what remain tough economic times.

No Jerry, the "superb" bottles (like a 1982 Ch. Margaux!) are still in my wine cellar, but the wine I donated is a Grand Vin Bordeaux so it should be pretty good! [Smile][Smile][Smile] Wish you success with raising money, I know it is being done for a good cause.

Saturday we went to the HPP Chili Cook Off and it was fun. My neighbor won the Body Glove Cruise prize. I heard that someone else from the park won the Go Air tickets. The Chili was soooooo gooooood! I saw lots of goodies at the cake and cookie table. The band was superb. I hope they have it again next year.
GOOD WORK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH!

My wife and I were there also....Excellent job putting this together. Chili was fantastic....Band was great and the people were very friendly. Got to talk with people about our Neighborhood Watch program and learned how much of a positive impact its making in our community. Also received some awesome information about Australia from one of the chili vendors about what to see and do since we'll be traveling there in the near future. I think we should have a Chili Cook Off twice a year!

Jerry,

I thought it was very well organised and a great success. I had to leave early, will you tell us who the Chili Chef winners were? Or will it be on the HPP website? My favorite was Number 14!
