Ilyushin Il-62 it dates to the 1960's.
I thought they had all crashed by now.
Had quite a problem with multiple engine failures.

A ancient Vickers VC 10 knock off is how I have always characterized these - a real museum piece

North Korea, Iran, and Cuba still use those things to limited destinations in their civilian air fleets. It seems most of them have been retired due to noise abatement and fuel consumption issues, and their diplomatic use by the Russians is exempt from noise regulations. Their safety history since the initial development and break-in period has been comparable to the B-707 from the same era, believe it or not.

Getting back to Hawaii topics, I wonder if the Russians are planning to do tourism or trade with the Big Island. Of course, they may just be taking advantage of a free tour and some goodie bags. It's interesting either way.
