I was wondering if the big island had a specialty shop to get a covered tarp say a 12x16 to park under...
Where do you guys go to get tarps and frames? Make your own? I'd like to get a metal version of it. I know you can buy them online but I was hoping to get quality ones that won't rust / brake / bend ...
Thanks!

The Ford dealership has the metal kind out on HWY 11...I think the sign says "island carports' but not positive.
Most of the hardware stores have the taps, brackets, bongo ball bungees (have no idea if that is the correct tem...) & metal poles to make up the tarp covered carpoorts... not sure there is a material here that will not rust, break or bend (or get eaten), over time...think you can only plan for the best you can.... and doing the maintenance thing before any of the above get out of hand...
J Hara and Hilo Surplus stores.

HPM carries a pipe frame kit of sorts and tarps and bungees to fit. Very common in the area. There are a couple auto parts shops with some really cheap car sized kits..... don't buy them unless you only need something that lasts a few months.
Assume the best and ask questions.

We had a 10x20 Shelter Logic brand "portable garage" in Alaska for about a year before we moved and had to get rid of it. It looked like it would have lasted another year at least and then maybe the cover would have to be replaced. It took a beating (literally, me beating on it with a roof rake to get the snow off of it). The steel pipes didn't show any signs of rust even though between the rain and condensation they never dried out. I can't remember if the pipes were galvanized or painted. I paid $300 for it at a local hardware store.
