9th Circuit Ruling

I think as the evidence shows so far, the rapid increase of gun ownership in Hawaii has not and will not lead to more gun violence, in fact it will continue towards less gun violence. I think that eliminating the money in certain criminal ventures will lead to a rapid decrease in gun violence. So yes, give the people guns and pot and lets hope it helps with the ice epidemic. I think it will.

I would not agree that the Constitution is a living document with regard to ever changing interpretations. It is however a document that can be living if and only if it's core principles are upheld and when a section of the document is advanced it be done through its prescribed form of remedy, via the amendment process. Avoiding the amendment process because it isn't convenient or would result in something not favorable to ones position is not constructive to its intended living nature.

If you want to alter the Constitution its done through Constitutional Convention of 2/3 the states placing the article on the table or it's done through the legislature and ratified by 3/4 of the states. That's how the interpretation of the Constitution was intended to evolve... it wasn't intended to evolve because people began bringing a new notion to the table with regard to a words meaning. No where within its text was such a notion given merit or to be used as a remedy. That's just hogwash.

You all are wandering back into national issues. If you want a general scholarly debate on the U.S. Constitution please take it elsewhere.
