Island Air doubling inter-island flights by May
#1
They are planning to double the amount of flights to the cities they currently serve. That will keep inter-island airfares in check except for Hilo. I guess they figure that people from Hilo can always drive over to Kona if they're looking for low airfares.

Not enough demand for hilo most likely... but if enough people raise a stink it could happen.

If I lived on this side and worked on kona side I would fly over taking the bus or driving in a heart beat.

Hawaiian has enough demand to make about a dozen flights a day pay off. I think Island Air may be temporarily put off by the cost of personnel and equipment (even if contracted/leased) needed to open a new operational station. All the increased service in this latest expansion announcement was to existing stations.

Correct: I only buy airline tickets because I'm in no hurry to get somewhere.
