I've noticed that it makes a big difference in air quality in HPP relative to where one lives. The closer you travel up towards HWY 130 from the ocean...the worse it gets. And just about every time I leave HPP to go to Pahoa during the daytime it's like there's this dark cloud over it (even when the winds are blowing all the fumes to the south) and seems to never go away. Like it's making it's own weather. I'm sure its lava related...but its very depressing

The plume had been rising vertically to a modest altitude and upper winds carry it north. It has been making its own weather over Pahoa.
Condensate has been raining down, at times quite heavy and at time intermediate. Not much sunshine..
Assume the best and ask questions.
