License Plate Photo System For Subdivisions
#11
Puna population= 55,000 * 20= $1,100,000.00

alaskyn66 -
The $20 fee would be per household, and there are less households in a Puna than people. If we estimate three persons per home, the total would be closer to $350,000. If it’s a County tax, it would go to Harry Kim and like the federal disaster funds, dissapear into the general revenue trough. If not, it would pay for 5 additional police officers in Puna, or approximately two additional for each day shift, one extra at night.

Not much benefit.
Plates are either stolen or changed around with multiple vehicles.

When I recently reported an attempted gas theft and provided police with photos, license plate number, and a description of the culprits, the officer repeated several times “this is really good information.” I had the impression it was more than they usually have to go on. The car had stolen plates. He sent out an alert to the other patrol officers. Even with stolen plates hey found the thieves. Sometimes the plate number won’t help, but sometimes it does.
