The few times we've had wood boring going on in cabinets or furniture (no ID on what was doing it, just saw the holes and sawdust) I sprayed exterior and holes with "Hot Shot" Ant and Roach killer similar to below. The stuff that advertises on can that it kills for 12 weeks. One application always did the trick. They sell it at Longs, frequently on sale for a few dollars per can:
