Tom, I know people who voted for him in the Democratic primary because they thought Colleen Hanabusa was smarter and more energetic than him, and thus more dangerous as a weasel good old boy (or girl in this case) politician. They went for a bumbler over a what they feared was shrewd crook in the Dan Inouye tradition.
