County short term vacation rental survey

Survey questions are somewhat vague at times and do not allow for more than agree/disagree in some sections.

Personally, I am for STR's. They are kept clean, well maintained, don't have roosters, loose dogs, loud cars, etc. they also employ a LOT of people in the area who would otherwise not have a job. Since they are often empty for weeks at a time, they also make for nice, quiet neighbors.

I do not buy the argument at all, that STR's result in fewer long-term rental properties. The major factor with people renting as an STR vs. long-term is the terribly slanted landlord/tenant laws Hawaii County has. If you cannot evict a bad tenant, why not rent STR instead as you know those folks will be gone in a week or a month.
