What is it?

Got up this morning and looked at one of the banana trees and half of a left was gone! It looked like someone took a knife and run it down the center of the leaf and it just curled up. I unrolled the leaf and found a big pale colored caterpillar inside. What is and what do you do to keep then from coming back?

Thanks for the link but that's not the little s**t. This one is all one pale color. Maybe green? It is also about 2-2 1/2 inches long and about 1/4" fat.

It's the banana skipper. This pest has been around here in Hawaii for years. I remember seeing it when I was a kid.
