real estate lawyer
#11
I just heard a real estate horror story from a neighbor:

2 years ago she bought (she thought) the 2 lots directly adjacent to one side of her lot where her house was. About 5 months ago, she discovered that the County is billing her for not those 2 lots, but the 2 lots that are farther away and adjacent to the two she thought that she owned. It gets worse. The deeds apparently are for two lots that are on the next street over!

I don't know all of the 'facts', e.g., what did the Title Insurance Report say, etc., but suffice it to say she has retained a lawyer and it promises to be an ugly affair to get straightened out.

Would having had an attorney review documents prevented this? I would hope so. But it appears that everyone dropped the ball here. Boy do I know THAT feeling. And again, it appears that no one wants to step up and say "I screwed up. I'll make it right." Deja vu... And people wonder why there are lawyers?
