Variegated Banana
#11
Try a different...the variegated has too much problems with getting enough sun on the tree. The leaf is not all green so not converting the sun into sugar just splitting dem.

I bought a "williams" banana tree at Garden Exchange. Also, a Brazilian dwarf variety that appears to stay really small. I'll see how they both grow. So far, so good.

If they aren't ripening after being removed from the tree after a couple weeks, put them with other ripening bananas or with apples. The ethylene off gassing should eventually get them to ripen. Mine have had no problem ripening or splitting. They are decent for eating out of hand and even as a cooking banana should at least be somewhat yellow for best taste. This is true for all Hawaiian cooking bananas.
