The roast was just bizarre and extremely tacky. The really odd part was a District 5 candidate who had been extremely vocal about being a concerned District 4 resident in the past, then chose a private venue like the Akibono in District 4 to essentially be a political booster for her candidacy in District 5. Yeah, yeah, just everyday goings on in Puna. Somehow, some of the transplants that make it to Puna develop the attitude that being boorish, crude, loud, manic, and hypocritical somehow represents aloha and pono.

Considering that Pahoa has very few possible venues for an event like that, and that the dividing line for council districts runs right down the middle of main street Pahoa, where would you suggest she should have held it? There aren't exactly a lot of options.
You pick the most bizarre and illogical things to criticize people for.

At her home in Hilo, of course.

pahoated,
You are spending too much energy talking down to people. Perhaps you are tired and need a vacation.
You have and edit button. I suggest you use it.
Assume the best and ask questions.

PT,
Early in the election process I stated my opinion of this candidate and her candidacy, but unlike some here I see no need to go on and on and on and on making the same points over and over again. That is not the same thing as defending someone.
In this case you were originally not writing about the relative wisdom of holding a roast, but instead said "The really odd part was a District 5 candidate who had been extremely vocal about being a concerned District 4 resident in the past, then chose a private venue like the Akibono in District 4 to essentially be a political booster for her candidacy in District 5." I don't see how you changing the subject to the wisdom or lack of wisdom in holding the roast makes me "dense".
I asked where she should have held it since the dividing line runs right down the middle of mainstreet Pahoa, and instead of answering that you stooped to being personally insulting. This from a man who claimed that the pre contact religion in Hawaii was based on sanskrit and when asked for citation of your source for that information you never could come up with one.
