How to Claim Helco for spoiled food
#1
Claim form must be printed, filled out & snail mailed to Helco within 30 days of loss. Scroll down, it's not just for electronic damage. There is a disclaimer for "storm damage", but it never hurts to try, for the cost of a stamp.

It states clearly that they are not liable if outage was caused by storm.
What is with folks who want someone to Blame?

Yes I agree. It's loss caused by a natural disaster. No one will cover that unless Helco "wants" to give money away.

It does cost more than a stamp. It costs HELCO the time to process the frivolous claims and then they have to pass those costs on to their customers. If you see HELCO as a big evil company, then shut 'em off.

I heard on the news there was a claim form that people on the SNAP program could get money back for damaged food, but the forms must be done by the 20th of this month. Those using SNAP might want to call and ask how to get it done.

If you have good homeowner's insurance or renter's insurance, your insurance company should cover food spoiled by failure of freezer.

The electric company isn't liable for storm caused outage.
