Does anyone have olena/turmeric/Hawaiian ginger starts for sale? We want to grow some for harvest, to cook with and for medicinal purposes.
If you have any tips on how to prepare it into powder form, that would be helpful too. Mahalo!

Check the bulletin board at Farm Supply Coop, lower left-hand corner.

Wrong time of year; it's all still growing. Harvest is in March or so, then just buy some roots from the natural food store.

I was in Pahoa Natural Groceries yesterday, and noticed that the produce section has olena/turmeric rhyzomes for sale.

Just buy a piece from the store and stick it in some soil. Easy as that.

Like Kalopatchkid said, just get a piece and stick it in the soil. That's what I did 10 years ago, and I've got it growing everywhere. Even put some in huge pots so it's easier to harvest without digging through lava and rocks.
It's in the ginger family, so grows like a weed here. Happy planting!
