'Ukulele Kani Ka Pila?

Wow, hang onto that uke, John. That's a museum piece. A guy at the Museum of Making Music, which is sponsoring a ukulele exhibit said that the Martins are much sought after (but to avoid their first batch, made before they really knew what a 'ukulele is.)

Chuck: I knew I could draw you out if I tried. Good to hear from you. Your ukuleles are stunning. Nice to know that Puna might become more musical when Andy comes over.

Oh, I'm hanging onto that uke. I need to send a photo of it to C.F. Martin and see if they can help me identify just how old it is. We found it when my mother passed away. I wish I could have talked to her to find out the story of how she came to have it. She never played the ukulele as far as I know. Nor did my father or any of us kids.

A guy Tony works with brought a Chinese Violin into work and played it a little for them...he has a ukulele that was custom made and shaped like an old flying "V" guitar!

Its such a small world. I went to the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club website (www.ukuleleclub.com) and was checking it out when I found an old customer of mine (Michael McGee) as the Events Coordinator.

Michael looked at a ukulele I had in my office and informed me that I had a C.F. Martin that was at least 75 years old (based on how it was constructed). Neat guy.

Other funny story. He was at a restaurant one time in Santa Cruz, playing a uke and singing about "a black sand beach" when the lady at the next table asked "you mean like on the Big Island?" Turns out, she was also a client of mine and they called me from the restaurant to tell me about it.

Small world. Really small world.
