Hwy 130 and Shower construction halted?
#21
It takes 40 days to reissue a permit? Did anyone at the DOT contact the contractor prior to the first permit's expiration? Who is our contractor? Are they unfamiliar with job permit procedures? How many more permits will be needed to complete this project? It is incredible that this project will be delayed for months because of an expired permit.

...and the new permit requires a new public comment period, so now the project runs until maybe November. Just in time for the holiday season!

I've never lived anywhere that took so long to do road construction. EVERY project takes forever, even discounting rain days.

EVERY project takes forever

It's not just roads, and the full scope of delay isn't usually visible -- the "permit lag" typically happens before breaking ground, and sometimes takes so long that the prerequisites expire before permits are issued.
