J Hara has chicken again? Last time I asked, they thought it would be another year before County blessed the kitchen remodel.

Is this because they sell alcohol? Another county inspector obsessing about urinals?

Uncomfirmed social media now reporting it will be the new location for Pescatore that closed in Hilo a few years back.

J. Hara Chicken was the best kept secret in town. Simple recipe and well prepared. Best of all, it was muy delicioso.

If the rumor that it is Pescatore that will occupy that spot is true, I'll be very happy. I ate two things there that have now made it to my regular cooking rotation:

- Ahi lasagna. I never would have thought of this on my own, but it was amazingly good.

- Sashimi with capers. The ahi was pounded thin, drizzled with balsamic vinegar, topped with a bit of shaved parmesan, and then capers. The only problem was that it was listed as an appetizer, and I could have had about 5 servings. Now I buy the ahi from the fishermen at the bottom of Aulii, and eat plenty.

Has anyone been to the Foodland Market at Ala Moana? I have and it is absolutely incredible. It has about 5 rows of buffet style food that is high quality. Surrounding the buffet is all the fresh greens/produce. It is truly a superstore. A row of poke, a row of fresh veg, a row of salads/fruit, and a row of prepared dishes. It's like a mini Vegas extravagant buffet. Very clean, huge. If prices are ok, it will eliminate the need for Safeway trips to Hilo. It really is impressive.

Yeah I go there all the time! It's only an all-day trip plus a few hundred bucks in airfare and taxi rides. Totally worth it for the buffet.
