Confirmation number? What's that?
If we all get counted twice that might not be a bad thing. Or it might be a bad thing depending on where the money goes.

I'm sure it was legit and he showed me ID. Halfway through answering questions I stopped him and told him I'd already done this online. He told me that he'd been told the same thing by several people he'd been sent out to interview and he didn't know what the cause of the problem was. He was very apologetic but obviously something is screwed up somewhere.
All the questions he asked were legitimate census questions and nothing that had me worried about being conned. He didn't ask for private information and stuck to questions I'd already answered online.
Same here, thing was I knew the worker and we had a nice “talk story”.

Here's a pdf file with a census update for Hawaii as of August 27. It has local contact numbers if you'd like to verify a census worker or other info on their collection methods.

When census is completed online and successfully submitted you are shown a complex confirmation number. The page suggests printing for your records. The benefit of completing online is that you have no human contact and know that the data was received.
