Just outside of Kapoho is one that's a public park, there's also one in Kapoho Beach Lots (the famous "Champagne Pond"Wink. Unless you have a clicker for the gate, you have to walk a ways to get to Champagne Pond.

Oink,
I want to thank you for this recommendation. My wife and I explored part of the cave last weekend and were tremendously impressed. We were the only people there. We left the cave through a skylight and followed a trail that finally came out on a road. We had no idea where we were, and finally met a lady working in her yard who gave us directions back to the parking area (1.7 miles) She said that all the neighbors know when they see unknown people on their road what has happened. What a fun day, and we got our exercise too!!

"From Hilo, pick up brunch from Lucy's Okazuya, continue up kaumana Dr. to kaumana cave. Enjoy brunch at picnic table in the cool air, then explore the non-tourist cave. Be careful to not bump your head in the cave entrance. Bring several flashlights, it is unlit."
