Whales are at Kaloli Point

YES, the whales are here. Saw 5 whales just south of Kaloli Point. Last night the moaning/singing woke us up. Lots of tail slapping going on. Yea ! Kaloli Point is whale active right now. Going to go out with full moon as soon as we hear them tonight.

There's been a lot of activity tonight off Kaloli although it's becoming quieter right now. One or two mothers with their calves and lots of fin-slapping, breaching and the usual weird noises they make above the water. I think they're heading north towards Hilo but the noises were coming from everywhere so was a little difficult to figure out the general direction.

And just as I was going to his the submit button I heard another loud screech just north of me followed by a much higher pitched one - likely a mother and calf.

The coquis are quiet tonight and it's just like the old days!
